Friday could bring more attention to grain markets as USDA releases its September World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) and Crop Production reports.
WASDE updates expectations for yield, production, demand and ending stocks. Those numbers can move markets, but they don’t answer a more personal question: What does a market move mean for the grain you need to make pricing decisions on?
According to Bushel’s State of the Farm report, 56% of farmers use farm software or mobile apps for grain marketing. Connecting current prices with your unsold inventory can help turn a market move into information you can use.
The August WASDE gives us a starting point going into Friday’s report.
For the 2026/27 crop year, USDA projected U.S. corn production at 16.013 billion bushels, with an average yield of 180.7 bushels per acre and ending stocks of 1.653 billion bushels. For soybeans, USDA projected 4.519 billion bushels of production, a 52.7-bushel average yield and 320 million bushels of ending stocks.
Those national numbers help shape the market’s expectations. But your farm has its own numbers.
Say you have 40,000 bushels of corn left to market. A $0.10-per-bushel change represents $4,000 in potential gross revenue across those bushels. A $0.20 change represents $8,000.
Market alerts in Bushel help connect those two perspectives. When the market moves, Bushel can alert you and show what that change would mean for your grain position.
Instead of only knowing the market moved, you can see what the move could mean for you.

A higher price doesn’t automatically mean it’s time to market grain.
Your cost of production, existing contracts, cash flow needs and marketing plan all matter. Bushel’s research found farmers who actively track their cost of production report higher satisfaction with their grain marketing decisions.
Maybe a market move reaches a target you’ve been watching. Maybe it gets you closer to your break-even point. Or maybe it doesn’t change your plan.
The alert gives you context. You decide what comes next.
USDA estimates change as new information comes in. Your farm’s numbers change, too.
Contracts fill. Yield estimates change. Target offers are triggered. Harvest gives you a clearer picture of the bushels you have available to market.
Bushel keeps your farm’s operational and financial information together, helping you:
Whether Friday’s WASDE brings a big market reaction or barely moves prices, knowing your position gives the market more meaning.
Market alerts in Bushel connect changing prices with the grain you still have to market, so you can spend less time doing the math and more time deciding what comes next.
The market tells you what changed. Your position tells you what it could mean for your farm.
